Collagen, the special protein
The importance of collagen is usually underestimated, because collagen accounts for 30% of the total mass of all proteins in the body. It is the essential component of connective tissue (bones, teeth, cartilage, tendons, ligaments) and skin. Collagen fibers have an enormous tensile strength and are hardly stretchy.
