Collagen, the special protein
The importance of collagen is usually underestimated, because collagen accounts for 30% of the total mass of all proteins in the body. It is the essential component of connective tissue (bones, teeth, cartilage, tendons, ligaments) and skin. Collagen fibers have an enormous tensile strength and are hardly stretchy. Hence its importance in the human organism – because collagen holds the body together and forms the supporting framework for it, so to speak. Collagen fibers are even stronger than steel!
Even though most people know it from the cosmetics sector, collagen is also important for the joint apparatus. While muscles can recover very quickly, regeneration is very slow in the case of stressed joints or tendons. Cartilage is not even directly supplied with blood, but absorbs nutrients and building materials from the synovial fluid, which requires a constant supply.
Recovery is certainly better than medical treatment later.
